  3. 3'billig' is cheap, 'kostet' is costs
Why this matters

A market seller calls out today's prices — apples, bananas, bread, eggs, cheese, potatoes — and you only hear it. Your job is to match each product to its price, which is the most common listening job of daily life: numbers inside real speech, said at real speed. The trick is to hold the pair together: the product name comes first, the price follows within a second or two (… Äpfel … zwei Euro). Prices are said euros first, then cents, with no word for the comma: 2,20 € is 'zwei Euro zwanzig'; 1,10 € is 'ein Euro zehn'. Two prices here are close on purpose — zwei Euro and zwei Euro zehn — so listen to the end of each number. Play it once for the products, once for the prices.
