Lesen: Anzeigen & Schilder

Lesson · 3 rules · about 3 min

Flat ads, bike ads, course notices: learn to spot the one number or word you need without reading every line.

  1. 1Ads have no sentences — scan for the noun
  2. 2The ad vocabulary
  3. 3Several numbers, one right one
Why this matters

Three small ads — a flat, a bicycle, a course — of the kind that fill notice boards and websites, written in the telegram style ads use: no full sentences, just nouns, numbers and abbreviations. Reading them is scanning, not reading: the question names a thing (Preis, Tag, Zimmer) and you find the number next to that word. The abbreviations are the whole point — m² (Quadratmeter), Tel., ab (from), bis (until), pro Monat (per month), zu vermieten / zu verkaufen (to rent / for sale), Anmeldung (registration). Read the questions first, then hunt.
