Once upon a time there was a little knight. He lived with his old horse in a castle high above a village. The other knights often laughed at him because he was so small and never wanted to fight. One day a big dragon came into the village. The people were very afraid and ran quickly into their houses. The king called all the knights together, but none of them wanted to fight the dragon. Only one of them had an idea, but he told nobody about it. Then the little knight took his horse and rode alone to the dragon. He did not fight, but spoke kindly to it. "Why are you so angry?" he asked. The dragon told him that it had not eaten anything for days. The knight brought it bread and apples from the village, and the dragon ate everything up. In the end the two became good friends. From then on the dragon helped the farmers with their work, and nobody laughed at the little knight any more.
