Diktat: Im Perfekt

Lesson · 3 rules · about 3 min

Write down little stories about the past — once you hear habe or bin, you already know how the sentence will end.

  1. 1Hear the helper, predict the participle
  2. 2ge- is written, even when it is quiet
  3. 3Questions start with the helper
Why this matters

Fifteen sentences in the Perfekt, heard and typed. Two things are being trained: hearing the helper — habe / hast / hat / bin / bist / ist / sind — at the start, and writing the participle correctly at the end, ge- and all. The helper gives away the verb's type before you have heard the verb: bin / ist / sind mean a movement or change verb is coming (gefahren, gekommen, aufgestanden). Write the sentence whole, and check the two ends against each other: a sein-helper with a haben-participle means you misheard one of them.
