Sprechen: Mein Wochenende

Lesson · 3 rules · about 3 min

„Was hast du am Wochenende gemacht?“ — answer Monday's favourite question with a little story told in the right order.

  1. 1Time word first, helper second, participle last
  2. 2The story words
  3. 3habe or bin — decide before you start the sentence
Why this matters

Twelve sentences about a weekend — a question, ten events in the Perfekt, and a closing 'Es war …' — to listen to and repeat, then to rebuild with your own weekend in them. The point is the frame: haben or sein in second place, participle at the very end, with a time word to set the scene first: Am Samstag habe ich lange geschlafen. It is the answer to the first question of every Monday — 'Was hast du am Wochenende gemacht?' — and a listener notices three things: the right helper verb (habe / bin), the participle at the end, and time words that give the story an order (dann, danach, am Abend, später, zum Schluss).
