Lesen: Beim Arzt

Lesson · 4 rules · about 4 min

Follow Herr Berger to the doctor and back: you'll understand why he goes, what he must do and when he's well again.

  1. 1Warum? → weil …
  2. 2Seit wann? → seit + dative
  3. 3The advice: Sie müssen … + infinitives at the end
  4. 4Three numbers, three questions
Why this matters

Herr Berger goes to the doctor: why (a weil-clause), since when (seit drei Tagen), what happens at the surgery, the diagnosis, the doctor's orders (Sie müssen …, Sie dürfen … nicht), the prescription and the sick note. A short scene that recycles the health vocabulary and both of this module's grammar rocks — weil with the verb at the end and modal verbs with the infinitive at the end. The warum? question wants the weil-clause; the was darf er nicht? question wants the infinitive after dürfen … nicht; the numbers (drei Tage, eine Woche, dreimal am Tag) each belong to a different sentence, so match the question to the right one.

Beim Arzt
